Offa Poly student commits suicide over handout proceeds



The administration and students of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa in Kwara State are in stun over the detailed instance of suicide by an student of the institution. It was gathered  that a National Diploma 1 student of the Civil Engineering Department, Ridwan Ajiboye, apparently drank some amount of bug spray and in the end kicked the bucket.

Ajiboye, who was the child of a customary title holder in Iragbiji in the Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State, chose to take his life after he was purportedly humiliated by one of his lecturers who gave him a few gifts to pitch to his course mates.

The Public Relations Officer, Students Union Government of the polytechnic, Olayinka Owolabi, when reached by our reporter on the phone on Saturday, affirmed the episode yet said no one knew why the expired killed himself. He stated, "A portion of his neighbors heard his cry and raced to his room where they met him heaving for air. He was taken to emergency clinic however he inevitably kicked the bucket.

"They said he took toxic substance however we don't have the foggiest idea what he took and no one can say why he took the substance."

He said the remains of the student had since been covered at the place where he grew up, expressing that his folks said they were not keen on researching the conditions that encompassed his passing.

Some days after Ajiboye's passing, another ND student of the Estate Management Department, Maryam Fasasi, supposedly attempted suicide. Fasasi was likewise said to have flushed a famous bug spray, expert rifleman, however she was safeguarded and restored at an emergency clinic.
