History introduced in Nigerian Curriculum, 2018/2019 Academic Session

The Nigeria Education Research and Development Council (NERDC) is set to reintroduce History as a subject, start from the 2018/2019 scholastic session. 

The NERDC Executive Secretary, Prof. Ismail Junaidu, told the News office of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday that the educational modules is prepared. He said that the subject would now be an independent educational programs and would be instructed from essential one to JSS III. 

The National Council on Education had endorsed the reintroduction of the subject in July. 

The official secretary said that the NERDC had sent an example of the new educational modules for History to the states to give them plentiful time to prepare of its execution. 

"All states are relied upon to be sharpened and educators prepared on the best way to utilize the educational programs previously the execution can start. 

"We have to give the states adequate time to put their home all together before we begin executing the educational programs,'' he told NAN. 

As per him, History is as of now in the senior auxiliary school educational programs. 

He said the execution would just begin after the educational programs had been dispersed to states. 

"We have started chip away at the educational programs on the grounds that the NCE has given the order, it will before long get to schools. The usage will start in the following scholastic session,'' he guaranteed. 

Junaidu included that the NCE had endorsed that all endeavors ought to be made to guarantee the initiation of History in schools and it will be cultivated. 

"By the following scholastic session (2018/2019), everything will be set up,'' the official secretary said.
